Who can vote?
To be able to vote in a UK election you must be aged 18 or over and registered on the electoral roll. Not everyone, however, is eligible to vote in all of the elections taking place on 6 May.

Mayoral Election
British, Irish, qualifying Commonwealth or European Union citizens who are resident in the UK.
Council Election
British, Irish, qualifying Commonwealth or European Union citizens who are resident in the UK.
Parliamentary General Election
British, Irish, qualifying Commonwealth citizens who are resident in the UK. British citizens registered as overseas electors.
Please note
Citizens of the European Union who are not Commonwealth citizens can vote in European and local elections in the UK, but are not able to vote in UK Parliamentary general elections (Citizens of the Republic of Ireland, Malta and Cyprus have full voting rights at all UK Elections).
